Workshops for Youth by U.S. Jazz Saxophonist Greg Osby

Greg Osby

Renowned U.S. jazz saxophonist, composer, and educator Greg Osby offered workshops for youth at “Teresa Berganza” music conservatory in Madrid on May 23 and “Padre Antonio Soler” music school in San Lorenzo de El Escorial on May 24th.  At the conservatory, Osby worked with a group of eight students including one pianist, one drummer, and six saxophonists, and explained the philosophy and basics of jazz improvisation by using improvisation games. At the school, a band of nearly twenty middle school students played familiar pop and jazz tunes on their instruments for Osby who provided them with his feedback. Osby even performed with the band in numerous songs and played a lively duet on the saxophone with one of the talented students.
