U.S. Embassy Consul Chris Richardson Speaks on U.S. Civil Rights Movement

On February 20th,  U.S. Embassy Consul Chris Richardson spoke to a full house at the Casa de America in Madrid, reviewing the history of the U.S. Civil Rights Movement.  Richardson, the co-author of a book on the subject, explored the legacy of slavery and segregation in U.S. society, before focusing on the leaders of the modern Civil Rights movement and their actions to win full equality for African-Americans.  This event is part of a series of programs at Casa de America commemorating the 50th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s  death and U.S. Black History Month.
