The Embassy Speaker Program travels to Almeria

The Embassy’s Deputy Cultural Attaché, Ryan Matheny Garrido, spoke to both high school students and adult English learners while in Almería October 11th.  The Embassy Speaker Program provides opportunities for English language students to interact with a native speaker, practice English, and learn about American culture, history, and government.  At the request of IES Maestro Padilla bilingual high school, Matheny addressed the topic of Winter Holidays in the United States, explaining the major religious, traditional, and informal holidays celebrated in America, which reflect the diversity of the American society.   At the Official Languages School of Almeria, he addressed adult English language learners about the geographic and cultural diversity of the United States, a presentation that invites the audience on a virtual trip through distinct regions and territories of the United States.
