Techno-Vernacular Creativity and STEAM: Makers Meet Up at Makespace Madrid

Nettrice Gaskins is joining us as part of a speaker series in Spain to discuss techno-vernacular creativity in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics). Dr. Gaskins’ model for techno-vernacular creativity is an area of practice that investigates the characteristics of cultural art and technology made by underrepresented ethnic groups for their own entertainment and creative expression and its application in STEAM learning. Her visit will also highlight International Girls in ICT Day -April 26- , an initiative aimed to create a global environment that empowers and encourages girls and young women to consider careers in the growing field of ICTs, enabling both girls and technology companies to reap the benefits of greater female participation in this sector. Nettrice will participate in a series of speaking programs in Barcelona, Cuenca and Madrid.
