The Embassy of the United States in Madrid is pleased to announce the reopening of the U.S. Consular Agency in Seville, Spain, on January 9, 2018, as well as the appointment of Raynold von Samson-Himmelstjerna as Consular Agent. In this capacity, Raynold will provide consular assistance to U.S. citizens residing in or visiting the western region of Andalusia, which includes the provinces of Seville, Cádiz, Córdoba, Huelva, and Jaen.
Mr. von Samson was born in Germany, grew up in Spain, and became naturalized in New York City in 1991. His diversified professional background includes shipping and international export management, executive search consulting, mergers and acquisitions, and a long entrepreneurial career as a restaurateur in New York, where Raynold and his Spanish wife ran two very successful Spanish restaurants. His ‘front of the house’ experience at their two restaurants gave Raynold his enthusiasm for customer service, which he looks forward to putting to good use as the U.S. Consular Agent in Seville.
Raynold’s educational background includes an MBA from the J. M. Katz Graduate School of Business at Pittsburgh University (Pittsburgh, PA), a BA in International Export Management from the Deutsche Aussenhandels-und Verkehrsakademie (Bremen, Germany), and an Apprenticeship at Reederei Harmstorf in shipping management from the Fachhochschule (Hamburg, Germany). Raynold and his wife live in Ronda and Seville. They have four children and three grandchildren.
The U.S. Consular Agency in Seville is one of five providing assistance to U.S. citizens in Spain. U.S. citizens also may obtain emergency and regular passport services, notary services, reports of birth abroad, and other routine and emergency consular services at the United States Embassy in Madrid or the United States Consulate General in Barcelona.
