Are students aware of the information landscape surrounding them? What role should journalists and educators have in promoting media literacy and a greater awareness on disinformation among youth? On May 6 and 7, we invited to Barcelona Damaso Reyes, Director of Partnerships at The News Literacy Project, a U.S. non-profit which works with teachers and students to identify what to believe in the digital age and to become responsible information generators and consumers. Reyes imparted a teacher training to 40 educators organized together with the regional government’s Department of Education. He also delivered several presentations to Journalism students and high school students and participated in a seminar on teaching media literacy at the Audiovisual Council of Catalonia.
