This initiative sponsored by the U.S. Embassy in Madrid and the Consulate General in Barcelona began on November 12, 2020 with the help of the Fundación Cibervoluntarios and Learn to Check, a digital verification platform. The goal of these free workshops is to teach 14-18 year olds to verify digital information and promote critical thinking.
Through these workshops, the Cibervoluntarios Foundation has made the Learn to Check online platform available to schools in Castilla y León, La Rioja, Galicia and Extremadura. This platform offers trainings against misinformation, has interactive and open content, and is available in three languages: Spanish, Catalan and English. These online workshops included games, informative videos, articles on key aspects of disinformation, digital verification tools, and practical examples of deepfakes or and how to verify information sources.
