This year marks the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the United States of America and the Principality of Andorra.  The United States recognized Andorra on February 21, 1995, after the Principality adopted its 1993 constitution.

The United States and Andorra have since enjoyed excellent bilateral relations based on shared values of democracy, human rights, and prosperity.  Together we have built a strong relationship expressed through bilateral agreements in the fields of education, security, and information exchange.  Andorra’s participation in the Visa Waiver program is just one example of this fruitful partnership.  The United States and Andorra also have increased our cooperation in the fight against international money laundering and corruption.

This year we are also proud to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the bilateral Fulbright Exchange Program.  U.S.-Andorran cultural and educational ties are significant, and the Fulbright Program’s educational exchanges are a key part of our multi-faceted relationship.  The program enhances international understanding by allowing Americans and Andorrans to experience our respective cultures and societies, thereby enhancing our ability to work together to advance both nations’ security and prosperity.

As we celebrate our 25th anniversary, may our nations continue to grow closer and to expand our cooperation and friendship.
