Iftar at the Residence of U.S. Chargé d’Affaires Krishna Urs


The U.S. Embassy in Madrid hosted an Iftar to celebrate the holy month of Ramadan with members of Muslim communities in Spain at the residence of U.S. Chargé d’Affaires Krishna Urs on June 22. Chargé Urs spoke about the importance of promoting democratic principles, as well as working to ensure religious tolerance and freedom of worship, while continuing to “work towards a better understanding of each other’s religion, culture, and way of life.” Chargé Urs also recognized the work and accomplishments of young Spanish Muslim leaders, including some alumni of U.S. government exchange programs.  In the words of the Chargé:  “These young men and women are our future leaders, entrepreneurs, and social advocates.”
