First Lady Michelle Obama Visits Madrid

First Lady Michelle Obama visited Madrid, Spain as part of a six-day tour to promote the “Let Girls Learn” initiative, which aims to bolster education levels for girls all over the world. While in Madrid, she, along with Queen Letizia, spoke to more than 600 university girls about the importance of educating girls and the equality of opportunity for women and men. She noted that more than 62 million girls around the world do not have access to education and it is the responsibility of families to value the education of girls. Afterwards, the First Lady also met privately with the Queen at the Zarzuela palace, followed by a tour of the Prado Museum with her daughters and mother.
