Do you know when your passport expires?
The Summer travel season is fast approaching and NOW is the time to schedule passport appointments. If you live, work, or have loved ones overseas, it’s critical to keep your documents up to date in case of last-minute travel.
As routine processing can take up to 6 weeks, start the process early to give yourself plenty of time. For adult renewals, in many cases you can save time by mailing your application without an appointment (see details at https://es.usembassy.gov/adult-passport-renewals/). Remember that kids’ passports are only valid for 5 years (not 10) so be sure to check those expiration dates too! Also, note that kids under 16 years old must apply for passports in person with their parents.
Special note for Dual National U.S. Citizens: U.S. law requires all U.S. citizens, including dual-national citizens, to enter the United States using their U.S. passport. U.S. citizen dual nationals are not eligible for ESTA.
