DHS Official Haris Tarin Visits Spain

To help advance Mission Spain’s Public Diplomacy (PD) campaign to counter violent extremism (CVE), the PD Section organized a visit to Spain by Department of Homeland Security (DHS) official Mr. Haris Tarin from May 30-June 3. A Senior Advisor in the DHS Office for Civil Rights and Civil Liberties (CRCL), PD officials and Mr. Tarin visited Barcelona, Malaga, and Madrid with two primary goals: 1. Broaden and deepen U.S.-Spain counterterrorism and CVE cooperation, and 2. Identify local community-developed activities to serve as models for Spain to empower local partners to detect and deter violent extremism.
