Event: Demonstrations and protests may occur over the next several days in response to a possible decision by Spain’s Supreme Court regarding Catalonia’s regional president. Organized demonstrations and spontaneous protests may take place in Barcelona and other locations throughout Catalonia after the decision is announced. U.S. citizens should expect traffic and public transportation disruptions. Demonstrations in the region in the recent past have become violent.
U.S. citizens are advised to avoid the areas of demonstrations. Please see our Demonstrations in Spain webpage for more information.

- Avoid the areas of the demonstrations.
- Exercise caution if in the vicinity of large gatherings or protests.
- Monitor local media for updates.
- Be aware of your surroundings.
