An initiative of the U.S. Ambassador to Spain, Duke Buchan, to promote robotics among teachers and girls in La Linea de la Concepcion, Cadiz.
“Education, inclusion and opportunities for all, empowerment and the future” are words that describe the program ´Community Bots-Fun with Robotics,´ a project of the U.S. Embassy in La Linea de la Concepcion, Cadiz, carried out the two first weeks of August. Thanks to this project, 30 girls between 13-17 year-old in the area of Algeciras, La Linea and Ceuta, as well as a dozen teachers received free training in robotics, including how to build and program them, and then carried out a competition using the robots they constructed. The successful program was “an inclusive project because the U.S. is inclusive,” noted Ambassador Buchan at the closing ceremony. “Community Bots-Fun with Robotics” was carried out with the direct participation of the Fundacion Secretariado Gitano and in collaboration of the City Council of La Linea and the Mar de Poniente High School.”
