On July 12, Acting Cultural Affairs Attaché Ryan Matheny visited teens participating in a technology, entrepreneurship, and innovation camp. This is a pioneer collaboration between innovative educational organization TEAMLABS, based in Spain, French creative programming school Magic Makers, and the U.S. Embassies in Madrid and Paris – funded by the U.S. Department of State. The urban camp takes place in Madrid, Barcelona, and Paris, and has over 240 teens participate free of charge. These young people tackle real world dilemmas, including those related to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, through hands-on programming workshops, group projects, and instruction from experts in innovation and technology. Matheny encouraged the participants to develop their creativity and leadership skills in this unique, fun, and inspiring environment. On Monday, July 15, the “bootcamp” moves to Barcelona.
