Knox Thames, Special Advisor for Religious Minorities in the Near East and South Central Asia at the U.S. Department of State, attended the International Conference on Victims of Religious and Ethnic Violence in the Middle East at El Pardo Royal Palace in Madrid. Co-hosted by Spain and Jordan, the conference included the participation of more than 50 countries.  In his remarks at the event, Special Advisor Thames noted, “We are here to shine our light on the darkest impulses of humanity: the violence, hatred and oppression demonstrated in ISIS’ actions. Our strength is our unity of purpose and commitment.”
